Yo u will shut this success down and shut it down now! We promised this project would be over budget and behind schedule and that’s what we will deliver!

And the “trouble” wasn’t a paid vacation day or office ice cream party? What?
So you heard it here first folks. Don't work hard. Work slow.

We’re tired of all the winning around here.

i’m not 100% sure but we’re supposed to have periodical reviews with the overseeing state agency and I think we blew right past it. I think we’re supposed to get approval to proceed to the next phase and the builder just went along his merry way. It looks like the district will be able to occupy the school 6 months early. you would think that would earn a virtual pat on the back

You start delivering projects on time and under budget and they’ll start expecting that sort of thing regularly.

Nobody wants that. Nobody.

Further, I can tell you one entity that does not want projects delivered on time or under budget and that it the University of the District of Columbia. I a m working on a project for them now which includes a bunch of studio space and specialized AV equipment, phased construction pricing which forces us to treat each floor as a separate project (which drives up cost for both HVAC and Electrical) and then they issue 7 pages of RFI responses last night at 10:45pm. The one thing they didn’t do was push the due date so now I am going to have to throw money at every trade in order to compensate and make sure everyone is covered as this thing is due Tuesday and I still don’t have all the pricing.
They did a new field last month. The numbers I got were a million more than they budgeted and every sub blamed the same thing for the high cost: Design. Idiots.
I hate this kind of work.

Reminds me when we were threatened to get points deducted on a school project for finishing a month early since the professor didn’t have anything else for us to do. So we “took it back for editing” and didn’ t submit it until the due date.
